All instruments auditioning need to have a prepared solo
and will be tested on sight-reading.

Bring a copy of the music/piece you are playing so that the conductor doing the audition will be able to follow along.  Memorization is NOT necessary.

Chamber: 2 octave Bb scale, 3 octave G scale, 2 octave A, C, D and F scales. 
Able to play in 3rd and 5th positions and vibrato 

Intermediate: 2 octave G, D, C and A scales, and one octave F scale. 
Some familiarity with 3rd position and vibrato

Viola:  2 octave G, D, C, A and  F scales
Able to play some 3rd position, some treble reading and vibrato

Cello: 2 octave G, D, C, A and  F scales
Able to play in 3rd and 4th positions and vibrato

Bass: Recommended one octave D, G, C, F and B flat scales. Some vibrato

All CYO students are required to take private lessons on their instrument, and encouraged to participate in their school instrumental music program.
