All instruments auditioning need to have a prepared solo
and will be tested on sight-reading.

Bring a copy of the music/piece you are playing so that the conductor doing the audition will be able to follow along.  Memorization is NOT necessary.

All Strings: 3 octave major scales and minor scales (bass 2 octaves)

Viola: treble clef proficiency

Cello: tenor clef and thumb position  proficiency

Woodwinds: All major, minor and chromatic scales ( 2 or 3 octave where applicable)

Brass: All major and minor scales.  Necessary transposition knowledge (especially horn and trumpet).  

Range: French Horn - to written C above the staff
       Trumpet - to high D
       Trombone - to high C, tenor and alto clef fluency
       Timpani:  p to f roll, tuning exercise
       Percussion: snare rudiments, melodic solo, sight-reading
