Mr.
Ingber received his Master of Music degree in Trumpet Performance in 1988 from
the New England Conservatory of Music where he studied with Charles Schlueter,
former Principal Trumpet of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He received his
Bachelor of Music degree, Cum Laude, in Trumpet Performance from the
University
of
Southern
California
in 1986.
There, he studied with Boyde Hood of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. At USC, he
was a member of the Trojan Marching Band for four years. College honors included
performing in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics Marching Band, the USC Honors Brass
Quintet, the New England Philharmonic, performing with Doc Severinsen, and
recording at MGM and Paramount Studios.
An
established professional trumpet player in
San Diego
County, Mr.
Ingber is proficient in all music styles. He is Principal Trumpet with Lyric
Opera San Diego and is a founding member of the quintet, “Premier Brass”.
Jonathan has
performed with the San Diego Symphony, San Diego Opera, San Diego Chamber
Orchestra, Starlight Theatre, and with members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic..
His
free-lance activities also include local productions by the Moscow Grigorovich
Ballet, the American Ballet Theatre, and the Joffrey Ballet, as well as solo
recitals, brass quintet concerts, and work with local string ensembles and
ceremonial bands. In
San Diego
area
performances, he has played under the baton of Composer/Conductor John Williams
and has backed-up noted performers such as Michael Crawford and Frank Sinatra
Jr. In addition to his performance schedule and CYO Wind Ensemble directing, Mr.
Ingber is an Adjunct Faculty Member at
Palomar
College
and an
Associate Faculty Member at
MiraCosta
College
.
For almost 20
years, he has been in demand as a brass coach to secondary school music programs
throughout the County, and as a private trumpet instructor to children and
adults. His private students regularly participate in top honor ensembles, and
former students have continued their musical studies at such prestigious
institutions as the Eastman School of Music and the San Francisco Conservatory
of Music.
