INTERMEDIATE ENSEMBLE
Rita Steele,
Conductor
Mrs.
Steele is the conductor of the Intermediate Orchestra and the Chamber
Strings Orchestra. Mrs. Steele holds a Bachelor of Music degree from
Georgia State University and a Masters of Music Education from Colorado State
University.
She began
her career in teaching with the Anchorage Borough School District. She taught
elementary through high school orchestras. While in Alaska, she conducted the
city elementary honor orchestra, judged for the district solo-ensemble festival,
was on the staff at the Kings Lake Fine Arts Camp and played in the Anchorage
Symphony.
Mrs.
Steele studied Suzuki pedagogy for a year at the McPhail Center for the Arts in
Minneapolis. For three years she maintained a private music studio in Hanau,
Germany. She moved to Los Angeles where she was on the staff of the Suzuki
Music Program of Los Angeles and maintained her private studio in Santa
Clarita.
Mrs.
Steele has a State of California Bilingual Credential and was teaching in
Escondido when in 2000, the Valley Center-Pauma School District hired her to
teach second grade bilingual and begin an orchestra program in their district.
Since 2004, Mrs. Steele has taught orchestra full time at all the Valley Center-Pauma
District schools. |
