SPECIAL
PERFORMANCE TOURS
FOR THE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
These tours provide not only
wonderful travel experiences including
exposure to other cultures and historical
sites, but also the opportunity for multiple
performances in front of international
audiences.
Students traveled to Vienna,
Salzburg and Innsbruck in 1993, to Australia
and New Zealand in 1996, and Italy,
Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Slovenia and
Croatia in 1998. In 2000 over 90 members of
the Symphony, toured Berlin, Dresden,
Prague, Nuremberg, Strasbourg, France and
Paris.
The 1998 summer tour included
six concerts to audiences exceeding 3500
people and international television coverage
of the entire concert in Croatia viewed by
an estimated 750,000 people. The Millennium
Tour provided five concert performances,
including in the famous Rudolfinum in
Prague, Czech Republic.
In 2002 members toured parts
of Spain, the French Riviera, and Northern
Italy. Five concerts were performed while in
Europe, including one celebrating the 750
anniversary of a small town in Spain, under
the sponsorship of the Cultural Committee of
the European Union, and one in a Roman
amphitheater in Frejus, France.
The Symphony Tour for 2004
included performances in Meiringen
(Switzerland), Karlovy Vary and Prague (the
Czech Republic), Vienna, Rust and Salzburg
(Austria). The performance tour also
included participation in the International
Youth Music Festival in Vienna.
The
2006 Symphony
Orchestra tour took the
ensemble to Stockholm, Sweden, Helsinki,
Finland and St, Petersburg and Moscow,
Russia. |
